Wine travel has become increasingly popular in recent years, and it’s not hard to see why. Not only do vineyards offer the opportunity to taste some of the world’s best wines, but they are often located in some of the most beautiful places on earth. Rolling hills, picturesque valleys, stunning coastal vistas – these vineyards around the world offer visitors a chance to experience both the beauty of nature and the art of winemaking. Over the last few years, we’ve gotten to travel to some pretty incredible places and experience some stunning tasting rooms. Keep reading for some of my favorites!
Venetsanos winery is perched on the edge of a cliff, offering panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and the caldera. The winery’s tasting room is a spacious terrace that overlooks the sea, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the views. The service here was amazing, and we enjoyed wine flights with some traditional greek bites to accompany the wines. While we were skeptical to visit Santorini at first due to the crowds, we were pleasantly surprised and absolutely loved our experience.
Stark Conde is a boutique winery located in the picturesque Jonkershoek Valley. The winery’s tasting room is situated on small lake, with mountain views in the distance. Not only was this one of the most unique tasting rooms we had ever been to, but these were some of the best red wines from South Africa that we tasted on our honeymoon.
Inglewood Napa is a winery located in the heart of Napa Valley. This winery was a stop for us on the Napa Valley Wine Train when we visited back in 2020. The winery’s tasting room is situated not far off from many of the other major Napa wineries, but this one has a hidden gem. Not only is the historic building and front of the winery beautiful, but if you sneak up a hill to the back, you’ll find an opening to one of the most stunning vineyard sites in Napa. Visitors can also enjoy a tour and tasting in the caves of Inglewood, while exploring the gorgeous property.
Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards is a boutique winery located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia. The winery’s tasting room is a spacious veranda that overlooks the vineyards and the surrounding countryside. Visitors can taste the Monticello AVA wines and enjoy delicious garden to table cuisine.
Nicosia is a family owned winery located in the heart of the Mount Etna region in Sicily. The winery’s tasting room is situated not far from the active volcano, with perfect views of it on a sunny day. They have a gorgeous patio tasting room, and some of the most stunning vineyards I’ve ever seen. We were lucky enough to tour a few of their vineyards located on the slopes of Etna, with the Volcano views on one side, and the sea on the other.
Altesino is a historic winery located in the heart of Tuscany’s wine country. The tasting room is situated on a hill, offering panoramic views of the vineyards and Montalcino. Visitors can taste the winery’s premium Brunello wines, tour of the facilities, and there is a food and wine pairing option. While we were in Montalcino, we stayed at the most stunning boutique hotel with sweeping views of the Val d’Orcia. Both of these places were incredible wineries with a view in Italy.
DeMorgenzon is a boutique winery located in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa. This winery has one of the most peaceful settings I’ve ever encountered. Along with sounds of nature, you’ll hear classical baroque playing in the vineyards to their grapevines to help them grow. In the background, you’ll see the stunning mountains and vineyards of the Stellenbosch region. The service here was also exceptional.
This small, family-owned Champagne House located in the Marne region of Champagne. Piot-Sevillano had to be on my list for wineries with a view, because many Champagne houses in towns or mainly feature the cellars. The winery is located within the town of Vincelles in an old, renovated school house. The floor to ceiling windows offers views of the vineyards and the surrounding French towns. On our recent trip to Champagne, we experienced their gastronomic picnic, while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
These tasting rooms offer a chance to taste some of the world’s best wines, but also an opportunity to enjoy some of the most stunning views in the world. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or just appreciate a beautiful view, these wineries are definitely worth a visit.
