Living in the beautiful state of California, the weather is always so nice and sunny, often times a cold glass of a Sauvignon Blanc or Rosé sounds most appealing. That’s not to say I don’t also love red wine, but this post is dedicated to my white wine lovers! In Sonoma Valley, they produce some of the greatest white wines in the world. Keep reading to hear about my top five wineries to visit for white wine fanatics.
1. Chateau St. Jean Winery
Located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, this winery is a must stop for all white wine lovers. At Chateau St. Jean, they are known for their single vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Fume Blanc. In addition to these uniquely made white wines, they have their Appellation Collection Brut Cuvée Sparkling Wine. When you visit the winery, you can do a tasting inside the beautiful 1920s Chateau, or grab a glass and explore the gorgeous garden grounds while taking in the mountain and vineyard views.
2. Benziger Family Winery
This family winery is located right outside the charming town of Glen Ellen in Sonoma County. With breathtaking vineyard hills, this property is unlike any other. If you are a Sauvignon Blanc fan, Benziger is a great winery to visit, with some of the best California Sauvignon Blanc you can find! Try the Paradiso De Maria and their traditional North Coast Sauvignon Blanc and compare flavors. At Benziger, they use sustainable farming methods to make their organic and biodynamic wines. In addition to the Sauvignon Blanc, they also have marvelous Rosé and Chardonnay to try as well. If this is your first time visiting, be sure to do the property tour and visit the caves where they barrel their wines and harvest the grapes!
3. Imagery Estate Winery
Imagery is the sister winery to the Benziger Family winery. Nestled in the heart of Glen Ellen in Sonoma, at their tasting bar you can try samples of small production wines that are exclusive to the winery itself. They have an exquisite Sauvignon Blanc and for those that love the more oakey and buttery taste, an elegant and smooth Chardonnay. They are also known for their fruity Muscato di Canelli and Viognier from the Russian River Valley. If you are looking for a unique white wine tasting experience, Imagery should be a must on your list!
4. Kunde Family Winery
Kunde is another Family winery that has such an enjoyable atmosphere you won’t want to leave! Greeted by beautiful oak doors and friendly faces, you can sit outside and do a tasting while enjoying the views of the vineyards and blue fountain on the property. This winery has a delicious selection of Rosé and multiple variations of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay to try. These white wines are not only affordable but of some of the best quality in Sonoma. They take precious care of their grapes and create delightful flavors in their wine!
5. Sigh
Once you’ve gotten your fix of some of the best white wine Sonoma has to offer, why not end on a sweeter, bubblier note? Sigh is a hip and classy Champagne bar located right in Downtown Sonoma. They serve Champagne and Sparkling Wine from California on tap, by the bottle, by the glass, or you can enjoy a flight if you want to experience different kinds of bubbly. It’s a friendly atmosphere decked out in modern art, comfy couches and a gorgeous marble bar. You are sure to love the good vibes and bubbly offerings this charming bar has to offer!
If you ever find yourself in California Wine Country, be sure to visit Sonoma Valley and check out these wineries. Not only do they have an amazing selection of white wines, but also red wines, sparkling wines and amazing experiences and breathtaking views that can be enjoyed by all! But also, all of these wineries sell their wine online and in stores, so be sure to try a few bottles, taste, and compare to find your new favorite! If you guys have visited Sonoma Valley and have a winery not mentioned that makes great white wine, I’d love to hear about it! Happy Sipping!
