January is almost over, but if you’ve been doing dry January it probably feels like the longest month ever! Even though this month is coming to an end, exploring non-alcoholic wines is something I want to continue doing for the remainder of the year! There are multiple reasons why someone might not be drinking, and having NA alternatives is so important! While I don’t think that alcohol removed wines are a perfect substitute for the real thing, there is definitely a place for them. Below I’m sharing all of my wine recommendations I’ve personally tasted, and a few additional thoughts on non-alcoholic wines!
On Instagram I made up a rating system for these wines with stars 1-5, five being the best. Being fully transparent, a five star non-alcoholic wine is not equal to a five star regular wine. This scoring system is meant to be fun and relaxed! Here’s how a wine earns a star:
⭐️ – has balance
⭐️ – nice flavors & complexity
⭐️ – doesn’t taste like grape juice
⭐️ – tastes like the wine is supposed to
⭐️ – something I would actually drink
I love how Giesen wines can be found pretty much anywhere, but at first I was skeptical when trying the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. However, it tastes just like a Sauvy-b should! Especially for the price point, I think this is a great option.
You’ll notice this Oddbird GSM is the only red wine on the list. Good non-alcoholic red wines are super hard to come by. This one doesn’t taste exactly like your typical GSM blend, but it offers a good substitute for light bodied, red wine lovers.
This 90+ Cellars Sparkling Rosé was the first non-alcoholic sparkling wine I tried over the holidays and I was so impressed! I’ve always been a fan of 90+ cellars wines and the value they offer.
The Iylia sparkling rosé thankfully lived up to the hype! This is the most expensive NA wine I’ve purchased, but it is also the closest to a sparkling rosé Champagne that I’ve tried. It’s a beautiful salmon pink color with complex and concentrated flavors.
The Good Twin Sparkling is a great substitute if you are a Prosecco lover! This Italian wine is made from the Glera grape (the same grape used in Prosecco). The dry finish makes it the perfect wine to sip alone or as an addition to a mocktail!
Over on instagram I’ve been reviewing non-alcoholic wines as I taste through them! Below are links to all of my reviews:
I definitely plan to continue exploring non-alcoholic wines. Let me know if there are any you love that I need to try!
