While getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing at the University of Minnesota, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy.

That time abroad had a major impact on my life and my love for wine! I started to realize that wine wasn’t just a beverage, but a way of life, an art, and a connection for so many people. Taking back a greater understanding and appreciation for wine and cultures other than my own, my curiosity for wine grew. I graduated college and moved to LA, pursuing a career in the events industry. While I had some incredible experiences, I felt like it wasn’t for me.

So how did I get into blogging? I started The American Wine Girl™ in 2018 as a creative outlet and a way for me to share wine recommendations to my friends. Then I started my wine education courses through WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust), and completed levels 1-3 in a year.

Since starting my blog, I have gotten to work with some dream brands including Coravin, Champagne Taittinger, Wine Enthusiast, Bordeaux Wines, Chianti Wine Consortium, Vinho Verde Wines and more.

I was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. Growing up in a place that was cold, and so far from other things, gave me the desire and passion to see the rest of the world.
